Annette's Story

Annette had her ThermaCool Thermage Facelift at Marina Plastic Surgery in early February. Annette admits, "I came to the conclusion a few years ago that I would probably have a face lift at some point in my life, but I certainly wasn't ready to do it now. I'm going to be 40 this year and though my skin's in good shape the crow's feet around my eyes were really starting to bother me."

A variety of treatments have been available for some time to address fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, but Annette shared her concerns about "looking like Godzilla" while recovering from the more aggressive laser resurfacing procedures. "The ThermaCool Thermage seemed like the perfect solution," she shared, "I could expect my crow's feet to improve and my brows to lift. They said it would be painless and that there would be no downtime."

I asked Annette if she felt what she was told about the ThermaCool Thermage Facelift was true. "During the procedure I only felt the treatment tip touching my skin, for the most part. On my forehead there were a few areas where I could feel more sensation of heat, but it went away just as quickly as it started. I was warned that my neck might be more sensitive, but I felt nothing uncomfortable in this area. I don't expect to need a second treatment, however I wouldn't hesitate to do it based on the temporary discomfort level I experienced."

According to Annette, "my skin looked just fine immediately afterwards, and I didn't have any swelling. There was a slight redness, like mild flushing. A few hours later the flushing more pronounced and my face felt warm to the touch, but my skin looked and felt completely normal by evening. I chose not to wear makeup afterwards, but makeup would have pretty much blended out the little redness I had.

While some patients experience immediate improvements, most will see improvements over a period of three months. I asked Annette if she thought it was worth the wait. "I was absolutely ready for the lifting to happen over time. But I noticed that same evening that the few fine lines on my forehead and slight furrow marks between my eyebrows gone in an instant. My crows feet were greatly improved — improved to the point that I would have been happy if the improvements stopped there." But they won't; Annette can expect even greater improvements in the weeks and months to come.
