This 48 year old woman was bothered by the sun damaged skin and age spots that appeared on her face. Knowing that there were a variety of skin treatments available that could help correct this, she scheduled an appointment at Marina Plastic Surgery to discuss her options.

During her consultation, her surgeon examined her facial features, skin type, and listened carefully to her desires so that he could create the best results possible. Together, they decided that a laser treatment was the best choice for her, since most laser treatments address some of the deepest layers of skin and often improve overall skin coloration. She ultimately chose the very popular Fraxel® laser in Los Angeles.

During her Fraxel procedure, the laser treated small areas of the skin with 400 to 700 microns of wavelength. The laser penetrated deep enough to stimulate new collagen growth. The rest of the skin surface was not affected by the laser, which allowed for quicker healing.

The Fraxel procedure went very well. The patient is pleased with her even skin tone and less apparent sun damage. Given more time to heal, some of the redness that appears in the after photos should continue to fade.

Diane, 46, had Juvederm placed into her lips, naso labial folds, and cheeks.  Diane also wanted to keep her natural beauty looking at its best, and Juvederm offered that natural improvement she hoped for.

This 44-year-old woman began her consultation with her Beverly Hills area plastic surgeon at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates exclaiming, "I'm tired of looking tired!" She felt that large, dark circles under her eyes made them look hollowed and baggy. After being told for some time by those around her that she looked constantly tired or unhappy, this woman decided to find out whether there was a treatment that could help her look more awake and refreshed.

Based on her surgeon's recommendation, this woman selected Restylane® injectable filler to smooth out her tear troughs. Restylane contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps restore or enhance volume around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, or lips. This woman is very happy with the results of her Perlane treatment. Her earlobes now look stronger and refreshed, and ear earring holes have been shortened and rejuvenated. In her "after" photo, this woman's earlobes clearly have less wrinkles and less sagginess. The Perlane treatment has "plumped up" her earlobes so they can now more hold her earrings more attractively.

This 59-year-old woman was about to turn 60 and wanted to treat herself to a facial rejuvenation procedure. During their consultation, this woman and her surgeon decided that a combination of BOTOX® Cosmetic, Perlane™, and Restylane® injectable treatments would create the changes she most wanted to see. BOTOX works by relaxing specific facial muscles so they do not contract, and in the process helps smooth out the fine lines and wrinkles that appear with repeated facial expressions. Injectable fillers like Restylane help fill out loose facial tissues that have lost volume over time, giving skin a firmer and younger look.

After receiving BOTOX, Perlane, and Restylane, this woman is much happier with her appearance. In her "after" photos, her expression lines have been softened so that she looks friendlier and more relaxed. After constantly being told she "looked tired," this 58-year-old woman decided to find out if there was a good way to refresh and enliven her appearance. This 22-year-old woman was concerned with deepening nasolabial folds (also called "marionette lines") that gave her face a sagging appearance even when her face was at rest. She felt that she was too young for a Beverly Hills plastic surgery procedure such as a face lift, but she wanted to find out if a nonsurgical solution could help smooth out her face.

In her consultation at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates, her doctor explained that surgery would not be necessary but recommended a facial filler to help fill in the creases from the inside out. The patient considered her options carefully and chose RADIESSE® wrinkle filler. Several different fillers are available at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates, but depending on their tissues and expectations some patients will be much better suited to one. Any lingering redness from the injection will disappear within an hour or two, and she can expect her non-surgical "Los Angeles face lift" results to improve over the following months.

This 69-year-old woman was concerned about the horizontal "worry lines" on her forehead and wanted to find out if she could correct them without a full-scale face or brow lift. She wanted to avoid invasive surgery if she could, but since she wanted an honest opinion of her needs she decided to consult with a reliable, board-certified Beverly Hills area plastic surgeon at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates.

In her consultation, her surgeon examined her tissues and told her he felt that her skin quality was good enough that surgery would not be necessary. He recommended DYSPORT®, a new alternative to BOTOX®Cosmetic that uses the same active ingredient but tends to spread faster and more thoroughly over large treatment areas such as the forehead. He explained that like BOTOX, DYSPORT is administered through a quick injection, and works by relaxing the muscles that cause the face to tense into wrinkles. Also like BOTOX, DYSPORT should not inhibit facial expression completely; just temporarily limit muscle contractions in the areas she wanted to correct.

The patient was pleased that she would not need a Los Angeles face lift procedure, and she agreed to this less invasive treatment. DYSPORT typically takes 2 days for full results to develop. In her "after" photo this woman is showing a very nice, typical result; her forehead is smoother but not unnaturally smooth, and while her brows are elevated very slightly, the effect is very natural. Her skin looks younger and more refreshed, and she is happy to see that her forehead lines look much less pronounced.

This 60 year old woman came to Marina Plastic Surgery concerned about a scar on her upper lip. The scar was due to an injury she had suffered as a teenager, and she had been self-conscious about it ever since. She was hoping that a nonsurgical treatment could improve the appearance of the scar.

She also wanted to learn more about nonsurgical procedures for correcting wrinkles and improving her skin texture. After performing a careful evaluation of her areas of concern, a custom cosmetic plan using injectables and laser skin rejuvenation was developed.

The scar was corrected through the use of JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, which was also used to give the lips a plumper appearance. We used RADIESSE® on her cheeks, nasolabial folds (the lines between the sides of her nose and her mouth) and marionette lines (the lines extending from the corners of her mouth to her jaw). BOTOX® Cosmetic was injected between the eyebrows and crow's feet. Restylane® was used to fill in the tear troughs under the eyes.

To enhance her skin texture, we finished her "new look" with Pearl Fractional, a laser skin rejuvenation treatment that encourages the skin to renew itself from within. This treatment is ideal for reduction of deep wrinkles and creating a smoother skin appearance.

The patient is very happy that she can look so vibrant and refreshed without needing to go "under the knife."

This patient had been bothered by the bump and uneven texture of her nose for many years. While a surgical rhinoplasty procedure could have corrected her cosmetic concern, she knew that injectable dermal fillers also can be used to provide temporary correction. She came to Marina Plastic Surgery Associates hoping to improve the appearance of the bump on her nose all in one visit.

The bump can be seen most clearly in the profile view "before" picture. Because the bump was caused by a depression rather than bone that was projecting from the bridge of her nose, she was a perfect candidate for an "injectable nose job." We injected RADIESSE® filler to smooth out the unevenness, and she had a much more satisfying appearance in only minutes!

The "after" pictures displayed here were taken immediately following her treatment. The slight redness of the skin is temporary and will disappear for most patients in less than a day. While using a dermal filler to revise the appearance of the nose does not create a permanent solution, our Los Angeles skin care patients can feel confident that their new look will last about 3 to 4 months before a touch up treatment is required.

This 78 year old man contacted the practice to find out more about the non-surgical treatments available to reduce wrinkles. In particular, he wanted to know what was available for treating the folds on his lower cheek just below his mouth. He wasn't looking for a surgical procedure, but instead something that would refresh his looks in a single simple treatment. After informing him of the cosmetic treatments we offer at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates, he decided that a dermal filler was his best option.

Wrinkle fillers in Los Angeles are very popular for treating patients like this one who want to soften folds, wrinkles, and creases on their face. To give the patient the look he wanted, several small injections of the dermal filler were placed in the lower folds of his face.

The results turned out great, and as the photos show, the folds that were treated are now much less visible. Since the photo was taken very soon after the treatment, some redness is visible but this subsides quickly following treatment. The dermal filler changed the look of this man's cheeks, giving him a more youthful look.

This 51 year old woman came to the practice seeking a non-surgical treatment to change the appearance of her cheeks and marionette. With a strong desire for a more youthful volume, she considered all of her options for Los Angeles skin care and decided that she wanted Perlane® injections.

Perlane is dermal filler which was used on this patient to soften her wrinkles and facial lines. Perland is similar to the filler Restylane, but contains a more concentrated amount of the active ingredient to tackle deeper and more prominent wrinkles, along with depressions in the skin. During the treatment two syringes of Perlane were injected into this patient's cheeks and marionette lines. Perlane contains a natural body chemical – hyaluronic acid – which filled up her skin, helping to provide fullness and elasticity. This treatment was very quick and required no downtime for the patient.

As the before and after photos show, her treatment of Perlane in Los Angeles worked very well. Along her cheekbone her wrinkles appear to have minimized and her skin looks much more youthful. This patient was very pleased with the restored volume in her face and plans regular refresher treatments to maintain her more youthful look.

This 61 year old woman was seeking a treatment that would help reduce the concerns she had with the appearance of her skin. The areas she was concerned about were her cheeks, smile lines, and wrinkles on her lower face and lips. She also expressed her frustration with the way her lips look when she wears lipstick because the lipstick bleeds into the lines surrounding her lips.

The treatment she received to help fade her wrinkles and give her a more youthful appearance consisted of injections in the cheeks, lower face, and lips. This patient chose the dermal filler called Perlane® which Los Angeles residents give high marks due to its ability to diminish wrinkles and lines. This patient received four syringes of Perlane in the cheeks, three for the lower face, and one for the lips.

In addition, to give her face a smoother appearance, this patient chose Dysport™ for wrinkles in her forehead. Dysport is used to relax facial muscles, reducing wrinkles and frown lines.

From the photos it is apparent that the injections did minimize her wrinkles and her skin has an altogether smoother look. Around her eyes and lower cheeks her skin has a lifted, tighter appearance which she desired for her Los Angeles skincare treatment.

This youthful and energetic 55 year old woman came to the practice seeking an improvement in her skin's texture and the appearance of her very fine lines. After weighing out all of her options for Los Angeles skin rejuvenation treatments, she chose a Pearl Fractional laser treatment.

Pearl Fractional laser was a great treatment choice for this patient. The Pearl Fractional laser affects only a fraction of the skin by targeting columns of cells, thereby stimulating the body to produce new collagen. Collagen is important because it helps our skin maintain a healthy, youthful look.

Her surgeon at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates was very careful and gave full attention to using the laser for maximum skin improvement. By treating her skin in areas where it had aged or had lost collagen, the condition of her skin was restored.

The Pearl Fractional laser treatments worked to smooth out her skin and brighten her overall complexion. Many of her fine lines are no longer or barely visible now and her skin appears to have a very soft, youthful look. She was very pleased with the improvement of her skin quality and tone.

This 31 year old woman came to the practice seeking a procedure to minimize her nasolabial folds (lines located along the outer edge of the nose down to the mouth). She wanted her skin to have a smoother look without noticeable creases.

During her consultation, she was examined carefully so that the best possible results could be achieved. Since her skin along her nasolabial folds needed to be lifted to the same level as the skin around it, a dermal filler was the best option for this patient. There are many types of dermal fillers offered at the practice, all serving similar purposes of giving the skin a smooth look and decreasing wrinkles or folds.

The dermal filler that was chosen for this patient was Perlane®, which is composed of hyaluronic acid, a resilient chemical that can mold to facial contours and plump up facial depressions. We use fillers like Perlane in Los Angeles because they last longer than collagen and do not require allergy pre-testing. For this patient, four syringes of Perlane were injected into her cheeks and smile lines.

Her results turned out fantastic, even though these pictures are taken just two weeks after her treatment, her nasolabial folds have already diminished tremendously. She is ecstatic about her more youthful look, which she can maintain through regular skin care treatments in Los Angeles.

This 47 year old woman was very bothered by the droopiness and dark circles under her eyes. She was concerned about looking "tired" and having to use concealer to cover up the dark circles. After examining her facial structure and her desires, it was determined that the best solution to meet her concerns was to have Restylane® placed in the "tear trough" area, which is between the rim of the oribital bone and the side of the nose. This 42-year-old female was very pleased with the results of her Beverly Hills breast reduction surgery. However, while she enjoyed her new, more balanced breast shape, she was concerned with the appearance of surgical scars visible in her "before" photo. She knew from her previous procedure that she would receive skilled and attentive care at Marina Plastic Surgery, so after her breasts had healed fully she scheduled an appointment to find out more about scar treatment options.

After examining her skin and evaluating her scars, her surgeon recommended Cynosure Pulsed Dye Laser to improve both the color and texture of her incision sites. This laser treatment combines pulse-dye laser (PDL) with a high-powered Nd:YAG laser to treat many forms of skin irregularities. By blending two different wavelengths of laser light to penetrate deep into the skin, this system provides safe and effective treatment that can yield very pleasing results.

This 40-year-old man felt very self-conscious about the scar around his areola from a previous surgery. The redness around his areola made the scar particularly noticeable when he removed his shirt.

During his consultation at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates, his surgeon examined the scar and determined that a micropigmentation procedure, called scar camouflaging, was the best option for diminishing the scar's appearance. The process is similar to tattooing, where a small vibrating needle is used to inject micropigment underneath the skin. Micropigmentation, often called permanent makeup, can be used on scars, discolored skin, or to apply "makeup" permanently to enhance facial features. For this patient, a nude, skin-tone pigment was injected to match the surrounding tone of his skin.

The procedure did not take very long and, after it was completed, this patient's scar was much fainter and far less red. Following his permanent makeup in Los Angeles, this patient felt relieved that his scar no longer stood out against his skin.

Considering her special requests, her surgeon suggested that she try a newer treatment called Thermage®. Unlike surgery, Thermage is a non-invasive treatment which uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to heat the deeper layers of your skin safely while it cools the top layers of your skin to keep them intact. The heating helps to stimulate the production of new collagen while tightening the current collagen, giving the skin a smoother tone and texture.

For many people, the results are noticeable shortly after the procedure and last for a long time. This could be a better option than fillers for some patients because fillers often need repeat treatments to maintain the results. Additionally, there is also little to no downtime after the procedure which can make this much more advantageous than surgery.
